Chipper Launches A Partnership with PFA To Improve Community Fields

Petrichor Football Association is pleased to have partnered with Chipper, the largest mobile cross-border money transfer platform in Africa. The partnership is helping Petrichor provide much-needed improvements to the local fields and facilities where our member clubs play. Our teams will receive field equipment, facility upgrades, and training equipment to help invest in their development.

Football pitches are an essential part of many communities in Yaoundé and throughout Cameroon, so this partnership and localized development also represents investment into local communities. The project meets the physical needs of better pitches but also addresses the bigger picture of connection and belonging. In total, the partnership with Chipper will provide upgrades for five separate community fields around Yaoundé, improving the conditions for our Petrichor teams and also for the neighborhoods who utilize the grounds.

The launch of the partnership with Chipper took place at Green City FC’s pitch and was marked by a small-sided football tournament with 10 Petrichor youth teams (7 aside) run by Petrichor Coaches. Our Director of Programs, Armand Bessala, presented the new partnership to the community leaders present and spoke about the necessity of community building, unity, safe spaces for kids, and the power of sport.

Chipper Cash is not new in the football space as they are AS Roma’s official money transfer partner in Africa, they have also partnered with Atotos Sports in March 2021 to provide training for underprivileged coaches in Kenya.

We are excited about this incredible collaboration with Chipper to invest in local fields, and we are excited for our future endeavors together.
